BTEC Health and Social Care

What is Health and Social Care?

Health and Social Care includes many aspects relating to the caring professions – childcare, nursing and eldercare.   You will learn about the stages of life through which we all pass – from infancy to late adulthood, and about the factors that affect these stages – from emotional and physical factors to social factors such as friendships. You will also look at the values of Health and Social Care such as preserving the dignity of the people in your care, respecting privacy, and professional manners of communication.

What skills will I develop?

You will learn the skills necessary to work in the care sector; you will be able to recognise the social/emotional/economic factors affecting people in your care and to make suitable arrangements for adjusting their care.

You will understand how to communicate with those in your care, and other people you work with, in a professional way.

You will develop an understanding of health and wellbeing.

What syllabus will I follow?
